Jaquelyn Michiko Scott

Jacquelyn was born July 10, 2002, a healthy 10 pound baby girl. When she was 4 weeks old Jacquelyn started having seizure activity. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy she was still degenerating. At 11 months old her diagnosis changed to Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Devastated that the disease had robbed her of many normal functions, we accepted her diagnosis as terminal. Jacquelyn passed away February 10, 2007, before her 5th birthday. If California's Newborn Screening tests would have included Leukodystrophies, Jacquelyn may still be with us today. Please join us in heightening awareness and finding a cure for Krabbe and other Leukodystrophies. Universal Newborn Screening is needed so every child in California and across the U.S. begins life with a fair start.
